Our Curriculum

At Meadow Montessori, we are proud to offer an incredibly dynamic curriculum that encourages critical thinking, problem-solving, and independent exploration. In our classroom, our dedicated teachers “follow the child,” which means children are given learning opportunities based on their interests, natural inclination, and ability.

T.E.E.A.M.S.

Our unique curriculum is called T.E.E.A.M.S., which stands for Technology, engineering, environment, art, mathematics, and science – all taught in a collaborative Montessori environment. These are the primary subjects taught in our classroom, designed to lay a solid foundation of learning and critical skills.

Where is reading and writing in the curriculum? It’s EVERYWHERE! Reading and writing are an essential component of each area in our curriculum and are continuously promoted throughout the day.

Enrichment Subjects

In addition to the core subjects, we incorporate enriching subjects into our curriculum as well. These include Spanish, music, physical education, cooking, gardening, and library visits. We believe that these subjects nurture and enrich our students’ physical, social, emotional, and cognitive learning–part of our “whole child” approach.

What Does A Day in the Life Look Like?

Independent Work Time

A cornerstone of Montessori education is that children learn through exploration and that learning should be done at their own pace. We have designated work time just like any other class; but, what makes us different is that each student gets to decide what they are working on. We encourage students to follow what naturally piques their interest and to interact with their environment. We also maintain a low teacher-to-student ratio to ensure that every child is getting individualized attention.

Meticulously Prepared Environment

Environment is a major factor of Montessori education. Our classroom is specifically designed to support a child’s natural curiosity, encourage creativity, and aid in cooperative learning. Everything from the materials, equipment, and organization methods are chosen to promote these values. Take a look at the American Montessori Society’s “Inside the Montessori Classroom” to get an even deeper understanding of the design.

Multi-Age Grouping of Students

Unlike a traditional class setting where students are separated by grade level, Montessori students of different age levels are grouped together in class. In this setting, older students are seen as role models and given opportunities to explore leadership roles, while younger students are encouraged to model their behavior and values on their older classmates.

Rich Extracurriculars

As we believe in nurturing the “whole child,” we offer a variety of fun and engaging extracurriculars that enrich our students’ social development. Some of these include gymnastics, martial arts, soccer, computer time, and more! When a child shows interest in an activity, we support it wholeheartedly.

Choose Meadow Montessori

For a learning environment that encourages your child to explore their surroundings, discover their natural interests, and develop critical thinking skills and practical life skills, choose Meadow Montessori! We abide by the Montessori education philosophy and support the social, cognitive, emotional, and physical development of children of all ages.
