Montessori education is an excellent way to provide infants, toddlers, and young students with the skills they will need to succeed in higher levels of education and in life.
We don’t believe that children learn best in rigid classroom structures. We provide an exciting and enriching environment with structured activities where students are free to explore, dissect, analyze, discuss and learn on their own. Each child advances at a pace which is comfortable for him or her. When students become older and realize personal goals, they also gain leadership skills by helping younger classmates to succeed.
Critical Thinking Skills
Middle school, high school, college, employment, and most other aspects of life require critical thinking to solve challenges. One criticism of modern learning institutions is that they are forced to teach to the exam, without giving students the critical thinking skills they need to puzzle situations out on their own. We never tell students to simply turn to a page in a book and ask them to learn a specific answer by rote; we set up challenges and let them work independently or together to discern an answer.
As students enter middle and high school, they are often overwhelmed by a new and confusing environment. Their early learning experiences have all been led by teachers, and they are now faced with a variety of classes, teachers, and school mates. Instructors pose problems and ask the class to solve them independently, which many students have never been challenged by before. Meadow Montessori students are better equipped to make the transition to a self-learning environment because that is what they have been doing all along.
